SHARING OF OUR TREASURE
This weekend’s 2nd Collection is for Project Faith
From the parable in today’s Gospel,
we learn that like the fig tree, God mercifully provides us with time and
opportunity, let us give witness to our faith with deeds of kindness and
generosity!
FOURTH SUNDAY OF LENT
First
Joshua and the Israelites celebrated Passover in
Second
Paul tells us that anyone living in Jesus is a new creation
because God has reconciled with us through Christ.
Gospel: Luke 15:1-3, 11-32
Jesus tells a story
of a son who squandered his inheritance. When a famine broke out, he returned
home and asked his father to become a hired hand. His father instead welcomed
him with a joyful celebration, just as God is overjoyed when a sinner returns
to him.

Lenten Spiritual Enrichment
Opportunities
Moved By The Gospel
Share The
Good News
God is as close
to us as our next breath—even closer.
God is within us, around us and among us. The season of Lent is an invitation to grow
in our awareness of God’s presence. You
are invited to participate in a time of Spiritual Renewal called “Moved By The Gospel.” The
weekend Scriptures, our Lenten Hymn “Moved By The
Gospel,” homilies and praying with your Lenten Spiritual Journal will explore
different aspects of our spiritual life.
The most enriching decision and action you can take this Lent will be to
participate at the Eucharist weekly.
Lenten Week 3: Reconciliation Heals Us
“We boast
in the hope of the Glory of God . . . and hope does not disappoint, because the
love of God has been poured out into our hearts by the Holy Spirit . God proves his love for us in that while we
were still sinners Christ dies for us.”
Romans 5
Mindfulness: Breathe deeply, inhale God’s Spirit of
peace, exhale anxiety, stress. You are
always in God’s presence. Take a few
moments. Prayerfully reflect on this
hymn verse:
“Moved By The Gospel”
Let
weavers form from broken strands
A
tapestry of prayer.
Let
artists paint with skillful hands
their
joy, lament and care.
Then
mime the story: Christ has come.
With
reverence dance the word.
With
flute and organ, bell and drum
God’s praise be
ever heard.
My Reflection
(Write in your Lenten Journal.)
Write your own Good News of what God is doing in your
life, through you, with you and in you . . . .

Selected Writings
“In life, many calls reach us from God,
asking us to get to know him better or to serve him in one particular way or
another. There is no need to fear that
in living for Christ and working for him we would be consigning ourselves to a drab, colorless
life. The life stories of the Saints are a
refutation of that worry. As a general
rule, the Saints who lived and worked for God are seen to have had highly
interesting lives. There is an ancient Latin phrase that runs: cui
servie regnare est—to serve him is
perfect freedom—a freedom, one
might add, that is not devoid of joy.”

Seeing God’s Gift
On Sunday,
as my family and I walked to the front doors of the Church, we saw an ice
sculpture. The details of the angel were
beautiful and flawless. Taking something as simple as a block
of ice and transforming it into a wonderful piece of art is such an amazing talent.
During
Mass, Father Joe was describing this piece of art to us and what it means to
the Church. Father Joe told us that the artist sees something within the block
of ice just as God sees something special within each one of us. After Mass was over, I walked over to see the
sculpture again. After looking at this beautifully, detailed piece of art, I
did not just see an ice sculpture, I saw a creation made by Mr. Johnson who has
a special gift from God and shared his special gift with us.
Father Joe
was trying to show us that anyone can just look at something or someone and
think it has no meaning, but you have to look deeper and you will find the
special gift it carries.
